3D printing specialist Ultimaker is making its global network of 3D printing hubs, experts and designers directly available to hospitals in need of tools and applications that can be produced via 3D printing.
The Dutch company, which has offices in the Netherlands, USA and Singapore, says its mission is ‘to accelerate the world’s transition to local digital manufacturing.’
As the Coronavirus outbreak continues to spread around the world Ultimaker is making its 3D printing hubs available, along with expert 3D printing advice, to hospitals looking to create urgently needed parts.
Hospitals that face acute shortages of critical parts as well as being in possession of approved 3D print designs can directly connect with 3D printing experts nearby and get what they need printed.
For those hospitals in need of parts which do not have a pre-existing design, Ultimaker is making a team of designers and application engineers available to support in creating the desired part.
‘Hospital equipment parts might break or hospitals may run out of particular tools, for example,’ said co-founder Siert Wijnia. ‘We are proud to see the 3D printing community come together to immediately print approved designs of objects that hospitals need right now.’
