HP to launch Indigo presses

Despite presenting the 50000 as a B1 machine, it is a 746 mm wide web press, which can produce images of up to 1120 mm long, enabling a 10up A4 imposition. It uses a twin-engine configuration to produce duplex print and is intended for high volume production yearbook and photo book applications. It runs at 42 m/min or 760 A4 ppm in four colour mode.

The HP Indigo 12000 is an upgrade to the 10000 featuring hardware, software and consumables enhancements to improve quality and reliability. It introduces the one-shot mode, currently available on the smaller Indigo machines, which enables it to handle a wider variety of materials including plastics and canvas. A new high definition laser array (HDLA) technology will be shown at drupa and will be available in 2017. HDLA doubles the addressable resolution from 800 x 800 dpi to 1600 x 1600 dpi enabling finer detail and smoother gradations to be reproduced. New media sensors enable the handling of transparent, mirrored and black materials. All the new features of the 12000 will be available as field upgrades for the 10000.

Upgrades to the company's workhorse 5000 and 7000 series machines include on press priming and coating options and Optimizer, a software tool that intelligently groups jobs to maximise productivity. Optimizer is claimed to improve productivity by up to 47% depending on application and job mix.
